Dependable Strengths Training

The Dependable Strengths Articulation Process (DSAP) trains counselors and educators in a time-tested process that helps people improve their quality of life through meaningful work—an outcome essential to wellbeing and productivity, not only for the individual, but for organizations and businesses (as demonstrated by Martin Seligman, Richard Bolles, Marcus Buckingham, and others).

DSAP was first developed by Bernard Haldane in 1945. It is the Dependable Strengths Articulation Process (DSAP): a peer-assisted, group process guided by qualified professionals. The heart of the process is story telling. DSAP Facilitators are trained to elicit the kind of stories that illustrate a person's Dependable Strengths—those strengths characteristic of a person's best work.

DSAP translates effectively to any culture in any language, to any socio-economic community, to any age group (K-12 and beyond into retirement), and to any situation in life, including even the unwelcome situations in life: crises (such as job loss), physical disabilities (such as blindness), emotional disabilities (such as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), debilitating conditions (such as AIDS), and confinement (such as incarceration).

DSAP has been adapted for specific application to a wide variety of human needs including employment, job satisfaction, career planning, workforce development, and team building—as well as goal clarification and goal achievement for persons, families and organizations. We help people experience a sense of community. We help people develop self-efficacy. We help people plan for successful futures.

DSAP training is particularly useful to WorkFirst staff (to assist them in working effectively with parents) and to WorkFirst LPA (to assist in identifying local and individual strengths as an organization).
