BUILDING ORGANIZATIONAL SELF-EFFICACY
and RESILIENCY

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

9 :00 am – 4:30 pm

Location
Safeco South Jackson Street Center
306 23rd Avenue S.,
Seattle WA 98144

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

There are many reasons why some organizations grow and thrive, while others do not. Two frequently overlooked factors that contribute to the success of an organization are self-efficacy and resiliency.

Organizational self-efficacy refers to beliefs within an organization about its ability to perform a specific task or manage a situation. In other words, an organization is successful because the people within the organization expect it to be successful.

Organizational resiliency refers to an organization’s ability to rebound after a setback. This depends on its sense of self-efficacy, its vision of the future, its ability to read and respond appropriately to the environment, and several other characteristics.

In this interactive workshop, participants will acquire an understanding of self-efficacy and resiliency, examine the degree of self-efficacy and resiliency within their respective organizations, and develop strategies to increase these important characteristics.

Regardless of their role or function, everyone affects the self-efficacy and resiliency of the organizations in which they work. For this reason, it is recommended that staff at all levels be encouraged to attend this workshop.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the earmarks of organizations with high degrees of self-efficacy and resiliency.
  2. Assess the degree to which their organizations demonstrate these earmarks.
  3. Explain to others the importance of organizational self-efficacy and resiliency.
  4. Implement strategies and activities to increase self-efficacy and resiliency within their organizations.

(This workshop is designed for staff across levels).
