SUPERVISORY COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This hands-on and highly interactive workshop helps participants learn the leadership skills necessary to create high-performance work environments. Participants will also learn the skills needed to establish a collaborative communication style, while providing others with effective feedback toward achieving work oriented goals.

The workshop format includes mini-presentations, discussion, real-world activities, handouts and skill practice.

Workshop topics include:

  • Effective supervision and leadership overview (a review of leadership qualities, characteristics and styles and models of leadership excellence)

  • Communication, motivation and coaching

  • Managing an effective workforce

  • Managing change and conflict

  • Making meetings work


 

    Participants will:
 
    1. Identify and understand the characteristics of effective leaders.

    2. Learn effective communication methods that will inspire others, develop trust and building strong work relationships.

    3. Understand the essentials of solid team leadership and practice the skills for leading a high-performance team.

    4. Develop coaching skills for managing performance.

    5. Understand the key steps for effective delegation & improved results.

    6. Identify factors needed to sustain commitment and accountability

    7. Learn how to coach others for improved performance.

    8. Learn strategies for effectively handling difficult team member behaviors.

    9. Learn the four keys to great meetings: Plan, Inform, Conduct and Follow-up

      • Meeting Roles: How to be an effective meeting participant

      • A Framework to help you guide your meetings (template provided)

      • How to handle various personality types at meetings

      • Managing an effective meeting

WORKSHOP FEE

Coalition Member Organization
$75 per participant [for 1-2 staff from member organization]
$65 per participant [for 3-5 staff from member organization]
$55 per participant [6 or more staff from member organization]

Non-Member Organization
$100 per participant

Lunch will be on your own.

Continuing Education Units/Clock Hours

Participants can register for Highline Community College Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The cost is $10.00 per course. CEU forms are available at the workshop.

Cancellation Policy:

The cancellation fee is $25. If you must cancel your registration and have already made payment, you may request a refund minus the $25 fee up to 3 working days prior to the event. After this date, no refunds will be issued and the workshop fee will be charged.

Alternatively, you can make substitutions for attendance.

Please note that "No Shows" will be charged the full workshop fee.
