Building 2
Highline Community College
2400 South 240th
Des Moines, WA 98198-9800

Workshop Description:

This full day interactive workshop is geared towards non-accountant participants who believe they are “not-a-numbers-person” and provides the financial basics necessary to understand organizational, program, and administrative budgets which are essential to fulfilling the mission of their organization.

Attend this workshop and focus on the tools one needs to develop, implement, monitor, assess and revise a department/program budget of an organization. Throughout the day, participants will benefit from a Case Study of a small organization which is implementing a new program to fulfill a current objective of its strategic plan. You will also engage in a variety of Group Exercises to experience the planning process for a new program (budget development, budget assumptions), assess the actual performance of the organization’s budget during the budget year (program and administration), provide recommendations on corrective action (if necessary) and suggest modifications to the next year’s budget.

Helpful handouts and resources will be provided for the participants to take back to their organization and utilize “on the job”.
