Coaching for Prosperity®:
A One-Day Workshop

Jointly presented with Burst for Prosperity, an initiative of Children's Home Society of Washington, seeking to reduce poverty in Washington State by researching and testing innovative models informed by the community that transform systems to help people achieve financial independence. “Coaching for Prosperity” has been developed by Burst for Prosperity. www.burstforprosperity.org

Who should attend this workshop? Counselors, case managers, educators, corrections staff, and anyone else in the business of helping people commit to changing their lives.

Workshop Fee: $95 - With an option to buy lunch.

Optional box lunch: $14

Vegetarian - Grilled eggplant & roasted roma tomatoes with parmesan & basil pesto
Chicken - Roasted chicken breast with gouda cheese & pineapple-mango chutney

Description:

Coaching for Prosperity® provides an introduction to coaching life and career issues for those working with individuals living in low-income situations.

The course objective is to introduce the basic skills and tools of professional personal coaching; to enable participants to apply coaching for effectively facilitating individuals in making life and career changes that empower them to achieve economic independence.

As a participant you will be introduced to these skills:

  • Learn the basic elements of coaching, how it differs from and enhances other methods of working with clients. These elements include
    • Building rapport and trust
    • Effective listening techniques
    • Methods for empowering individuals
  • Facilitating effective goal setting; identifying and addressing barrier issues
  • Develop a set of tools that enhances your ability to empower clients
  • Learn strategies to integrate coaching into your existing work structure
  • Become grounded in the coaching paradigm: Empowerment versus entitlement; asset and strength-building versus deficit–focused; client-centered versus system-centered; asking versus telling.

CEUs / Free Clock Hours

Free Clock Hours are available after the workshop.

Participants can register for Highline Community College Continuing Education Units (CEUs) before starting a course. The cost is $10 per course. Participant should call Community Education at 206-870-3785 to apply.

 

Cancellation Policy:
The cancellation fee is $25. If you must cancel your registration, you may request a refund minus the $25 fee up to 3 working days prior to the event. After this date, no refunds will be issued; you can make substitutions. "No-shows" will be charged the full workshop fee.

Note: All fees must be received within 90 days after event or a service fee of $25 will be added.
