Trainer Biographies

 

Heidi K. Schillinger, MSW

Heidi’s experiences living and working abroad in Mongolia, as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and in South Korea have helped shape her passion for providing and sharing culturally competent practices. In addition to her experience overseas, Heidi has worked with New Futures in a variety of direct service and administrative roles. Heidi also has teaching and facilitation experience abroad and in the United States. She is currently in charge of launching and directing ReachOut. In this role, she is also one of ReachOut’s primary curriculum designers and trainers. Heidi received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College, and her Master’s of Social Work, with an emphasis in Multi-Ethnic Practice, from the University of Washington.

Jennifer Rocili, MSW

Jennifer is passionate about helping to serve diverse communities in culturally respectful and meaningful ways; she has been invested in community work for several years. Prior to her work with New Futures, Jennifer worked on the 2000 Days to Excel Campaign, aimed at garnering community support in addressing the academic achievement gap deeply impacting children of color. At New Futures, Jennifer has played key roles in furthering our community and youth development efforts. Currently, Jennifer is the Site Coordinator and Community Developer at New Futures’ most diverse site, where the majority of residents are refugees and recent immigrants from around the globe. In addition, she is a trainer and has developed curriculum for ReachOut. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, with focus in American Studies, from the University of Washington, and her Master’s of Social Work, with an emphasis in Multi-Ethnic Practice, from the University of Washington.
