Workshop Overview:

Are you looking for concrete skills and fresh ideas to practice cultural competency in your work and organization? This interactive training explores how you can increase professional effectiveness through developing cultural competency skills. Participate in workplace application exercises that explore working effectively with diverse populations and creating professional environments that are respectful and supportive of all staff. Take home a ReachOut Cultural Competency Toolbook, which includes research highlights, skill areas, application tools, and additional resources to support continued development.

Objectives:

• Build a common understanding of cultural competency

• Gain a heightened awareness of our worldview, and understand how privilege and oppression affects all of us

• Identify specific strategies for practicing cultural competency skills in the workplace

• Create a personalized action plan to transfer learning beyond the session

CEUs / Free Clock Hours

Free Clock Hours are available after the workshop. Participants can register for Highline Community College Continuing Education Units (CEUs) before starting a course. The cost is $10 per course.
