Gloria will address the two of the most crucial roles for highly-skilled, busy leaders working in dynamic, resource-constrained, politically-charged environments—a leader’s legacy and how to build a sturdy bridge for emerging leaders.
An Emerging Leader – Kristin Hayden, Founder and Executive Director of the award-winning global leadership program called OneWorld Now!, shares her life’s work and vision for empowering us to see new possibilities for ourselves and our world. While reflecting on the leadership legacy her role models have instilled upon her, and intentionally supporting the youth that now look to her, Kristin’s story and passion invites people to consider how to activate and commit to their own dreams and vision for a better world!
Session 1: Leading Across the Generations
This session will explore current workplace leadership transitions and generational shifts now more common than ever. Strategies for valuing long-time leaders, recognizing new and younger leader talent, and helping teams and groups work and lead across generational divides will be explored. Practical recommendations will be offered on managing generational conflict and maximizing cross-generational team work.
Session 2: Power of Mentoring to Support Leadership
Kristin Hayden, Founder and Executive Director of OneWorld Now! and her mentor, fellow social entrepreneur and internationally acclaimed citizen diplomat Bob Walsh, lead a workshop on the importance and impact of mentoring emerging leaders. Kristin and Bob share their entertaining stories and adventures around the world from a lifetime mentorship and friendship that continues to inspire both of them to “pay it forward” with those around them.
Session 3: Coaching as a Leadership Style
Coaching as a leadership style is replacing the old “command and control” leadership common in many workplaces. Nine out of ten times, the bosses who are perceived as the most effective are coaches, not managers. In this session, learn the difference between a “boss” and a “coach” and new skills to help grow your ability to lead as a coach -- so you can help others see and develop their strengths, realize their potential and enhance performance.
In this session, participants will be able to:
- Distinguish the difference between “bossing” and “coaching”
- Understand and develop “best practice” coaching skills
- Learn the critical coaching skill of delivering effective feedback
