Session description:
“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
— Albert Einstein
Participants in this workshop will work collectively toward four objectives:
- Develop deeper understanding of complex issues;
- Acquire a more holistic view of the world
- Nurture one’s systems thinking talent
- Make systems visible to better see how to shift the dynamics.
We’ll explore together the ways and habits of systems thinking and the practical application of these habits. We will consider the role of feedback and practice with causal loops and system archetypes. We’ll use an iceberg metaphor to invite deeper understanding of system structure and mental models as related to leading sustainable change.
We’ll learn together by viewing personal stories through a new lens and collaboratively exploring complex problems. Our approach includes conversation in small groups, collecting insights with the whole, individual reflection, and system thinking games.
Practitioners will share their experience applying the habits of systems thinking in the world, including ways of creating and increasing access to this way of thinking and being, and leading and facilitating others to do the same.
