ENGAGING YOUR EMPLOYEES:
Creating an Environment where Employees feel
Connected and Committed

(repeated from NPSDC’s “Building Leadership Skills 1 Series”)

Tuesday, February 2, 2010
9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Location:
Mt. Constance Room, Building 8
Highline Community College
2400 South 240th St.
Des Moines, WA 98198

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

A recent Gallup Management Journal’s Employee Engagement Index poll found that only 29% of employees are actively engaged in their jobs, 54% are not engaged, and 17% are actively disengaged. These startling statistics mean that supervisors and managers have to become skilled in engaging and retaining a talented, diverse, and high-performing staff. You need connected and committed employees to successfully advance the organization’s mission and goals.

In this practical and interactive workshop, you will learn how to create a positive, inclusive and engaging work environment that is built on mutual trust, respect and appreciation. The key is to create a connection between employees and your organization that involves minds, hearts and hands.

You will learn the key drivers of employee engagement and best practices by examining research from organizations such as the Great Place to Work© Institute, the Gallup Organization, and DDI. You will explore these ideas further by identifying ways to implement them in a nonprofit environment.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Gain self-awareness about building employee relationships
  • Identify the essential elements of a “Great Place to Work”
  • Define employee engagement and its benefits
  • Learn the key drivers of employee engagement
  • Discover ways to measure employee engagement
  • Share best practices for driving employee engagement and retention

  • Identify existing and new ways to measure employee engagement
  • Find out best practices for driving employee engagement and retention
  • Learn practical and low cost strategies that can be implemented at your workplace
