CREATING EFFECTIVE WORKPLANS:
organizing and doing work that matters

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Organizations face heavy workloads and fast paced changes that need to be prioritized with the organizations’ vision and mission. Work that matters is achieved through prioritization, great organizing and effective implementation. 

In this workshop, you will gain a framework for organizing work to be performed by multiple people.  You will learn the fundamentals of organizing, planning and implementing work plans with application to core elements.  

  1. Launching work that matters:
    • Identifying work that matters (problem solving, process improvement, new services, etc.)
    • Scanning the environment
    • Building a case for the work
    • Setting direction (short/long term goals) and aligning with organization’s mission, vision, strategic plan and department goals
    • Developing buy-in with all staff levels
    • Establishing success indicators
    • Setting accountability for work plan

  2. Creating a work plan for success:
    • Develop action plan of tasks
    • Create task schedule and budget
    • Develop resource assignments, roles and accountability
    • Plan communication that matters
    • Develop change control process with agreement on decision makers for  accepting and rejecting requested changes
    • Establishing agreement on work plan

  3. Carrying out the work plan:
    • Performing the work plan
    • Monitoring and tracking progress to expected outcomes
    • Analyze and negotiation change requests to work plan
    • Communicating effectively

  4. Closing out the work plan:
    • Verification of outcome and transfer of responsibility
    • Evaluating outcomes/results
    • Conducting Lessons Learned

Participants can anticipate that this workshop will provide them with:

  • Education in the fundamentals of organizing work and implementing work plans. 
  • Learning and application of techniques and tools.
  • Template resources.

WORKSHOP FEE

Coalition Member Organization:
$90 per participant   [for 1-5 staff from member organization]
$80 per participant   [6 or more staff from member organization]

Non-Member Organization:
$120 per participant

Lunch will be on your own.

Continuing Education Units/Clock Hours

Participants can register for Highline Community College Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The cost is $10.00 per course. CEU forms are available at the workshop.

Cancellation Policy:

The cancellation fee is $25. If you must cancel your registration, you may request a refund minus the $25 fee up to 3 working days prior to the event. After this date, no refunds will be issued; you can make substitutions. "No-shows" will be charged the full workshop fee.

Note: All fees must be received within 90 days after event or a service fee of $25 will be added.
