Workshop 2: SUPERVISORY COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This hands-on and highly interactive workshop helps participants understand the leadership skills necessary to establish a collaborative communication style, while learning to effectively delegate and coach others to achieve successful work habits.
The workshop format includes mini-presentations, discussion, real-world activities, handouts and skill practice focused on providing staff members with solid feedback on achieving work oriented goals.

Workshop topics include:

  • Effective supervision and leadership overview (a review of leadership qualities, characteristics and styles and models of leadership excellence)
  • Communication, motivation, delegation and coaching
  • Managing an effective workforce
  • Managing conflict in the workplace
  • Making meetings work

Participants will:

  • Identify and understand the characteristics of effective leaders.
  • Learn effective communication methods that will inspire others, develop trust and build strong work relationships.
  • Understand the key steps for effective delegation & improved results.
  • Develop coaching skills for learning a new task or process.
  • Understand the essentials of solid team leadership.
  • Identify factors needed to sustain commitment and accountability.
  • Learn strategies for effectively handling difficult team member behaviors.
  • Learn the four keys to managing productive meetings: Plan, Inform, Conduct and Follow-up
  • Meeting Roles: How to be an effective meeting participant
  • Discover a framework to help guide your meetings (template provided)
  • How to handle various personality types at meetings

 

 

*(Note:      A similar workshop on this topic was delivered by the NPSDC last year, by the same trainer).

Coalition Member Organization:
$90 per participant   [for 1-5 staff from member organization]
$80 per participant   [6 or more staff from member organization]

Non-Member Organization:
$120 per participant

Lunch will be on your own.

Continuing Education Units/Clock Hours

Participants can register for Highline Community College Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
The cost is $10.00 per course. CEU forms are available at the workshop.

Free Clock Hours available at the workshop.

Cancellation Policy:

The cancellation fee is $25. If you must cancel your registration and have already made payment, you may request a refund minus the $25 fee up to 3 working days prior to the event. After this date, no refunds will be issued and the workshop fee will be charged.

Alternatively, you can make substitutions for attendance.

Please note that "No Shows" will be charged the full workshop fee.
