Earl Hale will discuss the current—and future—financial picture for higher education in Washington.  Experiences and strategies employed in several other states will also be discussed.  Focus will be on financial options available—and the educational policy implications of each for both the community and technical colleges and the four year institutions.

This workshop will provide highlights of several colleges’ approach to budget reductions that impact personnel.  This includes reviewing employee skill sets, writing job descriptions, and preparing for staff layoffs and reductions in the workforce (including notification processes, communication, workforce concerns and a plan for employee responses).
