Fall 2010 ASSOCIATION Conference
The New Normal

November 1, 2010 - 8:30am - 3:45pm

Renton Technical College
3000 NE 4th St.,
Renton, WA 98056

The New Normal
– what is it? We live in a time when adaptive change is necessary to steer us through a litany of hard realities: budget cuts on top of more budget cuts... position and program reductions... skyrocketing enrollment... doing more with less. What does this New Normal mean for community and technical colleges? How can we lead our institutions in ways that help us not just to survive but even to thrive?

Adaptive challenges don’t have known solutions, so we need to be inquisitive and open to learning. The thinkers at Cambridge Leadership Associates put it this way: “Every organization faces two competing demands: it must execute its current activities and adapt those same activities to face future opportunities and challenges.” It’s as though we need to rebuild the ship we’re sailing in, while we are sailing in it toward uncharted land.

How do we need to think and what do we need to do to create this positive and difficult change? This conference will help us better understand our challenges and address new ways of thinking about our work as we reshape our institutions for the demands of a New Normal.

The ASSOCIATION of Washington Community and Technical College Administrators and Exempt Staff feels that this conference is too important to miss; therefore we are offering a discounted rate of only $99.00 (for member colleges) to make it affordable for everyone during these times of budgetary cuts.

Plan now to attend!
