BREAKOUT SESSIONS
A. Climate Change as a Catalyst for
Sustainable Practices
Bill Purdy, Volunteer Presenter for The Climate Project
What is the science behind Climate Change, and what are the
implications? A societal sea-change is occurring as we begin
to understand our impact on the planet. What are the dangers
and opportunities in the coming decades and how will our decisions
be judged by future generations? Come watch a slide presentation
on Climate Change and join in a lively conversation about
sustainable solutions and how we can help shape the future.
B. Succession Planning: The Art of
Grooming Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
Ron Morey, Profound Results Consulting
Succession planning is an essential step in preparing for
the future of every organization, whether it is an academic
environment, private or public sector. Planning symbolizes
an organization’s commitment to attracting and retaining
the talent necessary to move qualified and prepared people
into a new position.
This session is intended to help each of us understand the
basic strategies of developing a solid succession planning
approach that is tailored to needs and capabilities within
the community and technical college system.
C. Leading From Within
Terry Chadsey, Associate Director, National Center
for Courage and Renewal
For a generation, the literature on leadership has stressed
that we lead from who we are rather than what we know. Terry
will engage you in reflecting on your own leadership and how
to sustain yourself, using the signature reflective, interactive
approach of Courage and Renewal, developed by Parker J. Palmer,
author of Courage to Teach and A Hidden Wholeness.
