Distinguished Service Award
Nominations
As you know, one of the reasons for the development
of The ASSOCIATION was to provide professional recognition for outstanding
Washington community college administrators. Since its inception, the
Earl Norman Award
has served as the sole vehicle for that recognition. This award, generally
granted to one individual each year, is a significant award, and will
remain the premier honor of The ASSOCIATION.
The ASSOCIATION currently numbers some 800 Washington
community and technical college administrators as members. Clearly a
single award each year does not permit the recognition of the broad
range of outstanding service given by administrators. In addition, the
award traditionally has been given to active senior district administrators,
frequently presidents; awards for retired individuals, lower level administrators,
State Board staff, and others were nearly precluded. Finally, there
simply was a need to recognize the achievements and contributions of
more than one administrator each year.
We are now requesting ASSOCIATION members to
consider possible nominations. Please think about people who have
served your college, several colleges, or the system, well. Perhaps
an ASSOCIATION Distinguished
Service Award would be one way to recognize them.
